Société Internationale d’Ethnologie et de Folklore

SIEF is the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore, founded in Athens on September 8, 1964. It has a number of working groups, including The Commission on The Ritual Year, which was established at the SIEF conference in Marseille on April 29, 2004 and started in Edinburgh in June 2004. The first conference of the SIEF Working Group on The Ritual Year took place at Malta in March 2005.

An international scholarly organisation, its main objective is to facilitate cooperation between scholars working within European Ethnology, Folklore Studies and ajoining fields. Membership is open to both interested scholars and students.
